In general, the people consider the installation of the Sussex 52in Ceiling Fan easy.
It is very easy to fit the hand-held remote control receiver into the housing canopy. Hampton Bay has resolved the issue in the newer models of the brand.
Keeping in view the older remote control related reviews, this used to be a very big problem.
We like the very sleek design of this ceiling fan, and I personally love the silver side of the reversible blades.
Although the unit is not Energy Star rated, it nicely generates a good amount of air throughout the room, in an efficient manner, unless you select the expensive DC motor.
I have one complaint about this unit and what I think could be improved is to use the lightbulb bases as a medium base rather than the candelabra base. The canopy has a lot of space to fit in the medium base lightbulb, so I was wondering: “Why did they use candelabra?”
As far as the light kit is concerned, I find that the light brightness is average when you use two 60-watt lightbulbs. You can go for more energy-efficient LED lightbulbs, however, it will not give a lot of illumination.
I was able to locate a 9-watt candelabra LED lightbulb available in the non-US market, which has adequate brightness but the opaque dome tends to dim the light a little bit.
In the end, I had to purchase a candelabra-to-medium-base light socket adapter and then installed a Philips slim style 60-watt equivalent, which barely accommodate the glass dome but they provide more illumination than the 60-watt incandescent that were originally available in the package. After doing that, I was very happy as well as surprised to see that these LED lightbulbs perform better with the light dim function on the hand-held remote control.
In short, I highly recommend Sussex ceiling fan if you want to install it in a room or area where you do not need bright light, but want to add some light to boost your room’s aesthetics.
If you consider energy-efficient brightness option, and can go a couple of basic steps ahead including socket adapters so that you can retrofit the lighting function, so overall, this fan is a great choice for the price and quality.

Is The Sussex Ceiling Fan Ideal For Smaller Rooms?
This fan can be ideal for room sizes from 12 feet x 12 feet to 20 feet x 20 feet.
Although the fan is sold for larger rooms, it can also be suitable and fit very well in smaller room sizes such as 14 feet x 14 feet.
Tip: If you think the fan is too good in terms of moving air in a smaller room, you can use it at the lower speed.
How Can I Change The Light In The Sussex Ceiling Fan?
If it is difficult for you to get off the dome globe in order to change the lightbulb then you should follow the below steps.
You need to rotate the Sussex fan glass dome in a counter-clockwise direction to twist it off.
The reason is that it is without stop in the globe track if you twist it too far in the clockwise direction, it will get stuck.
If you tighten the glass too much, it can shatter as well.
Turn the globe counterclockwise in a gentle manner. If you continue to turn it in a clockwise direction when it is stuck and you push it further then it will definitely shatter in the end.
If you are still not able to get it off, follow these steps.
Turn off the power to the ceiling fan first.
- Place a drop cloth under the glass globe, in case if it shatters
- Spray a bit of silicone into the light on the outside of the glass globe but at the same time ensure that it remains inside the metal ring exterior of the lighting fixture. The next thing is to spray some of it in a counter-clockwise direction so that it goes through the screw track that holds the globe in its place. This should be done all around the globe.
- Give it two minutes to soak in
- Lastly, turn the glass-globe in a counter-clockwise direction in a gentle manner.
