Hampton Bay Windward II Fan
Hampton Bay Windward II manual is available now, it does not take a lot of effort to find this one. The only problem with Windward II ceiling fan is that, it is available in multiple versions as the name indicates. By going through the website of Home Depot, we have found many versions including Windward II or Windward 2 and Windward IV or Windward 4.
At the end of this post, you will get PDF manual document that can be downloaded for the Hampton Bay Windward ii ceiling fan covers: Safety Rules, the installation and operating of your fan, including the remote control, along with the maintenance of the fan and troubleshooting. The last sections of the manual will provide the specifications of the ceiling fan with the basic warranty information.
Before we begin to discuss why you may need the manual and what is the process to download it, we have done a lot of research that will help you to learn about this model of Hampton bay. I am an expert in ceiling fans, and a little research help me to give the helpful points and tips to you.
What is the Hampton Bay Windward II 54 inch Ceiling Fan?
Hampton Bay has this stylish ceiling fan which is available at Home Depot stores. After going through the reviews, I came to know that it is a very reliable fan that can generate a lot of air.
It has a lot of colors ranging from white to a black finish with brushed steel options. You need to keep in mind that if you are here you probably had the fan for a while and it seems to be discontinued and Hampton Bay Windward IV ceiling fan has taken its place.
However, don’t be disappointed as after going through the Home Depot website they still have replacement parts that can be purchased.
The fan package has a down rod that you can skip or use keeping in view the height of the ceiling. However, my recommendation is to use the down rod due to the larger size of the blades. A light bulb also comes with a fan kit.
How Good is the Windward II Ceiling Fan To Keep Your Room Cool?
First, you will observe the fan blades’ pitch which is insane.
A 29-degree blade pitch indicates that this fan can generate a lot of air even on low speeds. It also has a good motor spinning which remains at 195 revolutions per minute on high speed with the perfect blade pitch. The fan features three-speed settings including High, Medium and Low
Since the fan is 54 inches in size, the blades have 54 inches in diameter. They seem to be plastic rather than wood.
Windward II Ceiling Fan Remote Control
The unit features a thermostatic remote control.
After using it, I found out that you can set the temperature on the remote as you want it to be and the fan will automatically adjust and continue to readjust speeds keeping in view the air temperature.
A reverse and forward button is also there to help you with the airflow up or down. I have experienced that sleeping at night, airflow up, is better for me as it prevents me from getting up with tense muscles. Having a good airflow on your body when you are asleep can result in muscle tension.
Another cool option of the remote is that the light button glows in the dark. Apparently, this option is only designed on the newer models rather than the older models.
A light delay button is also present, which after some working, finally works when you press it, the light will remain on for 3 minutes then turns off.
The timer function is another cool feature that the remote offers, which can be used to set light or fan or both.
If you turn over the remote and take out the battery cover from the back of it, there will be 4 AAA batteries and dip switches.
This can take you closer to the smart fan which is not a smart fan.
If you are looking for a replacement remote for this one, you can check eBay for that. Simply search for ‘Hampton-Bay FAN9T Thermostatic Remote Control’ and you will get it.
Can the Remote Reverse the Fan Direction?
Yes, as the remote controls all the functions of the fan. if your ceilings are high, use a 3 feet downrod, which is also available at Hunter, as a result, you do not have to use a ladder to flick the direction switch on the unit.
This Hampton Bay Windward 54 in ceiling fan is also noiseless, the only noise it makes is from the air that it moves and not because of any mechanical cause.
You must keep in mind that the older models that contain round light bulbs you can use the remote to change the direction. You cannot do it on the newer models.
The Windward II Ceiling Fan Replacement Parts
The Hampton Bay brand ceiling fans are designed for Home Depot. If you are finding a replacement part, the first place to start with is your local Home Depot store, not the “national”, number.
From my experience, I consider the Winward brands to be ideal in terms of air movement and lighting.
Here is a quote from an owner: “I have contacted their warranty and or replacement department on two occasions in the last decade and have had a 100% success rate (failed transmitters for remote transmitters & replacement remotes.”
As I have experienced it, the only place to get the replacement parts for your Windward is Home Depot. The glass on the Winward series I, II and III, all come with the same dimensions so they can be used for one another, but you need to contact them.
If you are failed to locate the replacement parts, I can offer two possible solutions for it.
- Change out the entire ceiling fan. These fans seem to be designed as if they’ll never have any issue. When they cannot be fixed. As near as I can tell you, Hampton Bay and Home Depot are same and one as well.
- Go for ‘King of Fans’ in Florida. They also manufacture the same brand.
- Here is our helpful article on Hampton Bay Replacement Parts. It can guide you to contact number of places and it also contains the phone numbers and business names.
A few things that you can check in order to fix them all by yourself or by someone else. If you are facing the vibration issue, then you should examine the blade screws. You may need to snug them.
In case the light is not turning on, you may have to examine the ballast contacts for it. if they seem loose or lost contact, tighten them.
How To Change the Light Bulb on the Hampton Bay Windward II Ceiling Fan?
To change the light bulb, you need to turn the plastic housing counterclockwise to get it off and then pull down. You will see the bulb. Remove the power clip from the light bulb and remove it from its metal clip holders by pulling it.
You will have to get a 9″ bulb, which is not available in any Canadian store, so it must be ordered specially. If you are in the United States, Lowes can offer them.
